Admissions and Records
The Admissions and Records Office is responsible for admissions, registration, and for the accuracy and maintenance of all student records. We offer convenient access to registration, grades, class, catalog and financial aid information via the MyVCCCD portal.
Who can take classes at VC? Anyone! Each course offered by the Ventura County Community College District and its colleges is open to enrollment and participation by any person who has been admitted to the college and who meets the prerequisites to the class or program, unless specifically exempted by statute.

RETURNING - I have attended Ventura College before.
Welcome back to VC! Get on track again by following these steps:
- Re-apply online for the term you wish to re-enroll in, and re-activate your MyVCCCD student portal account (the set-up link and instructions will be sent to you in an email with the subject line "Welcome to Ventura College!" after you re-apply and are accepted)
- Complete the orientation under the MySuccess tab in the MyVCCCD student portal (if you never did this previously when you first attended VC)
- Make a Counseling appointment
- Sign up for classes by logging in to the MyVCCCD student portal
- Pay for your classes via the MyVCCCD student portal (see Financial Aid for more options)
TRANSFER - I attended another college but am new to Ventura College.
Earned more than 12 units from another college before attending VC? Follow these steps. (If you earned less than 12 units from another college, follow the NEW student protocol.)
- Apply online and activate your MyVCCCD student portal account (the set-up link and instructions will be sent to you in an email with the subject line "Welcome to Ventura College!" after you apply and are accepted)
- Submit transcripts from your previous college to VC’s Admissions & Records
- Complete the orientation under the MySuccess tab in the MyVCCCD student portal
- Make a Counseling appointment
- Sign up for classes by logging in to the MyVCCCD student portal
- Pay for your classes via the MyVCCCD student portal (see Financial Aid for more options)
HIGH SCHOOL - I am in high school and want to take classes for college credit.
Start college early! You can earn college (and possibly high school) credits by taking classes at Ventura College. To enroll, follow these steps:
- Meet with your high school counselor
- Apply online and activate your MyVCCCD student portal account (the set-up link and instructions will be sent to you in an email with the subject line "Welcome to Ventura College!" after you apply and are accepted)
- Complete the placement process
- Provide the required forms VC’s Admissions & Records

Steps to Apply and Enroll
Ready to enroll*? Follow these steps to begin the process
1. Apply for admission
Follow instructions to create an OpenCCC account to submit your free online application to VC. It could take up to 24 hours for you to receive your new student confirmation email, so sit tight! If you are a returning student, you must re-apply to VC if you have not attended classes in over a year.
VC needs to receive your final official high school transcripts and all official college transcripts (if applicable). Visit Admissions & Records to learn more about where to send official transcripts.
If you wish to receive college credit for AP exam scores, contact the College Board to have your scores sent directly to VC. - 2. Activate your MyVCCCD student
2. Activate your MyVCCCD student portal account
Check your email in-box for an email with the subject line “Welcome to Ventura College!” This email will contain both your student ID number (write it down!) and a link to activate your MyVCCCD student portal. You must set up your portal via this link before you can access the portal through the Ventura College website. Please note that the link to set up your portal expires 10 days after it is sent!
3. Complete the online New Student Orientation
After you have set up your MyVCCCD student portal account, log in and click on the MySUCCESS tab to find the New Student Orientation. After you complete the modules, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, which you can print. You must complete the New Student Orientation online in order to attend a counseling session or meet with a counselor.
4. Complete the Assessment placement process
Complete the assessment so counselors can use your results, as well as your high school or other college transcripts (see Step 1), to make their best recommendations on which classes you should take. 5. Attend a Group Counseling session to create an Ed Plan
Call the Counseling Office at (805) 289-6448 to join a Group Counseling Session to develop your first semester Abbreviated Educational Plan. The counselor leading the session will show you how to access a program called DegreeWorks, through which you will select and track courses to meet your educational goals.
After your first semester at VC starts, you can arrange an individual meeting with a counselor to develop a Comprehensive Student Educational Plan. Appointments are scheduled with the Counseling Office either in person or by calling (805) 289-6448.
6. Register for classes and pay for them online
After attending the Group Counseling Session and creating a first-semester Educational Plan, check your MyVCCCD portal under the “Register / Pay” tab for your registration date and time. Use your Educational Plan to guide the courses you register for, and be sure to pay your fees immediately so that you are not dropped from the classes. Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application or the California Dream Act Application today (VC’s school code is 001334).
Student ID cards
A VC Student ID card is a great way to access discounts and resources at Ventura College, as well as discounts in the broader community! Sample student discounts include a 50% discount for Amazon Prime*(*must use your VCCCD email at the time of registration), a 50% discount for Spotify Premium,education pricing for Apple products,college discount on a new leased or purchased car from General Motors,15% discount with Amtrak,a $15 gift card when you show your membership card and student ID card at Sam’s Club,and many, many more discounts.
Another reason to consider securing a Student ID card is because many VC student services offices, such as the Student Business Office or Admissions & Records, will require identification in order to provide information to a student.
Parking and other transportation
If you plan to drive to campus for your classes, you may wish to purchase a parking permit. Parking permits can be bought via the MyVCCCD student portal under the Register / Pay tab in the Payment and Payment Plans section. Learn more about student parking information by clicking here.
There are bus stops close to the VC campus, with routes provided by Gold Coast Transit or the Ventura County Transportation Commission.Additionally, the City of Ventura also offers information about bicycle routes for students who commute by bike.
*All new and returning students are required to complete an Orientation, an Assessment, and a Student Educational Plan as part of the Student Services and Support Program (3SP) components. Priority registration will be granted only after all three components are completed. (3SP does not apply to High School Special Admits, as there are separate admission and registration procedures for these special populations.)
Exemptions to 3SP requirements: Some students may qualify for an exemption to the 3SP requirements. Review the exemption request form to see if any of the exemption policies apply to you. If you qualify, submit the exemption request form for approval from the Counseling Office. Submission of the exemption request form does not mean or guarantee approval of your exemption request. If your exemption is granted, you will lose your opportunity for priority registration that is granted to students who complete all the services.
Admissions and Records
Our Admissions and Records staff provide high quality customer services to Ventura College students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. Admissions and Records processes and maintains records of transactions of student registration, develops and implements policies and procedures to assure the integrity, security, and preservation of each student's official academic record. The department releases academic record information in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
