Welcome to the VC Basic Needs Center!
At Ventura College, we are committed to providing students with essential resources and support programs to help meet their basic needs. Our mission is to ensure every student has access to food, housing assistance, and other critical services, allowing them to focus on their academic success.
We foster a welcoming, compassionate, and respectful environment that embraces diversity and supports students facing housing and food insecurity challenges. You are not alone—we are here to help!
📌 What Are Basic Needs?
Basic needs refer to the essential elements of student well-being, including food, stable housing, and overall wellness. The VC Basic Needs Center provides support programs and resources designed to help students thrive academically and personally.
Meeting basic needs has a direct impact on students' mental, emotional, and physical health, academic performance, professional growth, and overall success. Our goal is to increase accessibility to food, housing, mental wellness, and financial resources so that students can focus on their education without added stress.

The BNC helped relieve a lot of external challenges. I used the food pantry daily, allowing me to make academics my priority. It was a space to get a quick snack or heat a meal. The BNC helped me apply for the CalFresh program. I know I would have struggled to focus on school without this resource. Thanks to all the resources and support I received at Ventura College, I was able to transfer to my dream school, UCLA, and will graduate next year with a B.S. in Neuroscience. I am extremely grateful to Ventura College.
