Please join me in congratulating Dr. Damien Peña as he was selected as the 2019 Community College Professional Award recipient for Region VI through NASPA, the National Association of Student Services Personnel Administrators.
NASPA is comprised of 15,000 student affairs professionals and 2,100 institutions who work together to create a powerful network of support, research, and resources to help students succeed. NASPA Region VI includes: Northern California, Southern California, Arizona, Hawai’i, Australia, Guahan (Guam), Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Aotearoa (New Zealand), & China.
The Community College Professional Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated active involvement with the profession, NASPA, and/or community college research, policies, or practice at the regional level; contributed to creating a campus environment that promotes student learning and personal development; and made outstanding individual contribution in innovative and responsive services and programs that address the varied and emerging needs of students.
Damien was nominated by faculty, classified professionals, students, and administrators and is honored to be receiving this award at the 2019 NASPA Western Regional Conference in November.
