The Multi-Skilled Medical Assistant pathway prepares you for employment in the medical field as an administrative (front office) and clinical (back office) medical assistant. The core course is BUS V97 - Multi-Skilled Medical Assisting, which is an intensive short-term training program designed to train you for all of the skills needed to work in either the front or back office of a medical office or clinic. This pathway also requires that you complete BUS V26 Electronic Health Records and BUS V27A Beginning Medical Terminology. Successful completion of all three courses leads to a Certificate of Achievement (COA) in Multi-Skilled Medical Assisting. If you also complete general education requirements, you can earn an Associate Degree in Multi-Skilled Medical Assisting.
· Total units for the COA is 22 units.
· Total units for the AS degree is 60 units.
The Administrative Medical Assistant pathway includes six courses that together prepare you for employment as an administrative (front office) medical assistant. This pathway includes training in all front office skills, customer service, medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, and electronic health records. Successful completion of all six required courses leads to a Certificate of Achievement (COA) in Administrative Medical Assisting. If you also complete general education requirements, you can earn an Associate Degree in Administrative Medical Assisting.
· Total units for the COA is 18 units.
· Total units for the AS degree is 60 units.
