Anatomy and Physiology course are strongly recommended for all Paramedic Studies applicants. If you are planning to enroll in Anatomy and Physiology courses outside of the Ventura County Community College District (Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura Colleges), it is recommended you first verify with a Ventura College Health Science Counselor, to ensure the course will meet equivalency for the Ventura College Paramedic Studies Program. A formal review by the Science Department may be required to determine equivalency, whereby, applicants must submit both a Course Outline of Record and Course Syllabus for the course to be reviewed. Please note: both counselors and faculty reviewers are off-contract during the summer, and reviews will be delayed if the request is submitted over the summer session. Please consult with a VC Health Sciences Counselor for more information.

Official Transcript Requirement

All official transcripts for courses completed outside the Ventura County Community College District, including High School/G.E.D. must be submitted to the Ventura College Admissions and Records Office.  Transcripts from Ventura, Moorpark, or Oxnard Colleges are not required to be submitted.

  • Option 1 (preferred):  Official electronic transcript submissions should be emailed by the institution to vcadmissions@vcccd.edu.

For questions pertaining to transcripts, please call Admissions and Records at (805) 289-6457 or vcadmissions@vcccd.edu

Prehospital Experience Requirements

Students must have a minimum of 1000 hours of EMT field experience with a preference for primary "911" response as an EMT. Equivalent experience may be considered and may require the PM V95 Work Experience Course. Submit a letter from your employer or experience documentation. Letter(s) from employer(s) must be submitted with your online program application, on letterhead, and addressed to the Ventura College Paramedic Program Director. The letter must include the candidate's name, date of hire, length of employment, and job title with a description of duties. This letter must also include the total number of hours worked. You may use the Employer Letter Request Form to inform your employer of the requirements.

Final Step for Associate Degree Candidates Only

If you wish to earn an Associate of Science (AS) Degree in EMS: Paramedic Studies from Ventura College, along with your paramedic license, you must select this placement track with a Health Sciences Academic Counselor so that you are informed of the academic requirements for the Degree. These academic requirements differ from "entrance requirements" into the Paramedic Studies Program.

Candidates must verify with Admissions and Records that all required transcripts are on file prior to the counseling appointment.

To schedule the counseling appointment, call (805) 289-6448 and schedule an appointment with either Health Science Counselor, Angelica Gonzales, or Beatriz Herrera.

Once all items above have been completed, submit your online application to the program.
