About Program
Program Purpose: A general program that focuses on computers, computing problems and solutions, and the design of computer systems and user interfaces from a scientific perspective. It includes instruction in the principles of computational science and computing theory, computer hardware design, computer development and programming, and applications to a variety of end-use situations.
Program Description: Ventura College's degree program provides opportunities for students who wish to continue their studies at a four-year institution in fields such as computer science, computer information sciences, information technology, or information systems management. Computer science education, moreover, seeks to prepare students for lifelong learning that will enable them to move beyond today’s technology to meet the challenges of the future.
Computer Science is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems. Courses cover programming fundamentals, data structures, and computer architecture, along with specific programming languages.
